Instructor-Led Pottery Classes – Beginner to Intermediate Level

Member Registration begins July 20th*

*members MUST register to secure their spot

Public Registration opens July 21st

This class welcomes students from beginner to intermediate levels. Participants will work in a collaborative, community-focused environment where learning is guided by an experienced instructor and enriched by peer interaction.

Class Format:

Offered in 8-week sessions.
Students will explore both handbuilding and wheel-throwing techniques, with the opportunity to focus on their preferred method throughout the session.

Materials & Supplies:

Clay Purchase Required: It is expected that each student purchases at least one 25-pound bag of clay per session.
- Clay is available for $35 per bag and can be purchased:
  - During online registration at checkout
  - On the first night of class via cash, check, or QR code (available on the CVA website)
- Note: All clay must be purchased through CVA. Outside clay is not permitted.
CVA provides a limited number of communal tools for student use.
- On the first day, the instructor will recommend tools students may wish to purchase for personal use.

About the Instructor:

Originally from Florida, Victoria Mercado-Lues is a Mexican-American ceramicist and oil painter who has exhibited her work across the US. She has taught pottery on the wheel to children at Camp Laurel, Maine, teaches art at UNCG, and will be a resident with GROW: Creative Greensboro in August. Victoria earned her BFA from USF and is currently an MFA candidate at UNCG. She is excited to join CVA and continue to share her passion for ceramics!
