CALL FOR ARTIST PROPOSAL - Opens Oct 8 2026
Deadline for proposals - Nov 4 2026
Final decision will be decided by Nov 09 2026 by judging panel.
Install Dec 28, 30, 32, 2026 & Jan 4-7, 2027
Opening Reception - TBD
Work must be for sale.

RULES:

1. Artist must be a North Carolina resident.

2. All work must be your own originals. 2D or 3D work. No prints.

3. Must have at least 25 pieces of art. (Our gallery walls are tall, so larger work or more than 30+ works would be favorable.) No size minimums or maximums.

4. Must upload all work in registration in JPEG or PNG format. (25MB per image) Please upload all work proposed for exhibition. No work other than work submitted will be allowed. You can upload up to 40 images.

5. Must provide written Emerging Artist Proposal in Word, Pages or PDF. Please share info about yourself, your story as an artist and your proposal for "emerging" exhibition. Emerging Artist is defined by "any artist who is in the early stages of their careers who has not yet established a substantial market presence or has limited exhibition history."

6. Must provide inventory list of work; Title, media, size, price in PDF, Excel, Numbers or PDF.

7. Art MUST be ready to hang.

8. Artist MUST be available to assist in hanging, workshops, marketing and promoting the exhibition.

9. All artists must pay $15.00 registration fee. No CVA Member discounts.

(Sunday) 8-Week Adult Pottery Studio Class--Beginner to Intermediate Level (session 5) (Sunday, October 18, 2026)

Instructor-Led Pottery Classes – Beginner to Intermediate Level

Member Registration begins September 28th*

*members MUST register to secure their spot

Public Registration opens September 29th

This class welcomes students from beginner to intermediate levels. Participants will work in a collaborative, community-focused environment where learning is guided by an experienced instructor and enriched by peer interaction.

Class Format:

Offered in 8-week sessions.
Students will explore both handbuilding and wheel-throwing techniques, with the opportunity to focus on their preferred method throughout the session.

Materials & Supplies:

Clay Purchase Required: It is expected that each student purchases at least one 25-pound bag of clay per session.
- Clay is available for $35 per bag and can be purchased:
  - During online registration at checkout
  - On the first night of class via cash, check, or QR code (available on the CVA website)
- Note: All clay must be purchased through CVA. Outside clay is not permitted.
CVA provides a limited number of communal tools for student use.
- On the first day, the instructor will recommend tools students may wish to purchase for personal use.

About the Instructor:

Originally from Florida, Victoria Mercado-Lues is a Mexican-American ceramicist and oil painter who has exhibited her work across the US. She has taught pottery on the wheel to children at Camp Laurel, Maine, teaches art at UNCG, and will be a resident with GROW: Creative Greensboro in August. Victoria earned her BFA from USF and is currently an MFA candidate at UNCG. She is excited to join CVA and continue to share her passion for ceramics!

Artventure Day: New Year, New Beginnings

Start the new year with a day of creativity, imagination, and artistic exploration at CVA!

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will spend the day creating artwork inspired by themes of new beginnings, goals, growth, and possibilities. Through a variety of mixed media projects, students will reflect on the year ahead while expressing their ideas through art, storytelling, and creative play.

Throughout the day, students will follow a structured schedule that includes:

Welcome activities and creative warm-ups
Guided art projects inspired by hopes, goals, and fresh starts
Snack and movement breaks
Art-making, games, and collaborative activities
Lunch and outdoor recess in downtown Greensboro parks (weather permitting)
Additional art projects and creative exploration in the afternoon

Using a variety of materials and techniques, students will create meaningful artwork while building confidence, making new friends, and celebrating the possibilities of a new year.

Artventure Day: Black History Month Edition

No school? Spend the day creating, exploring, and learning through art at CVA!

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will enjoy a full day of hands-on art activities inspired by Black History Month. Through age-appropriate discussions, creative projects, and collaborative activities, students will explore the contributions of Black artists, innovators, and cultural leaders while creating artwork using a variety of mixed media materials.

Throughout the day, students will follow a structured schedule that includes:

Art-making, games, and collaborative activities
