Art in the Afternoon Scholarship Application 2026-2027 (Wednesday, September 23, 2026)

At this time, CVA has limited funds available for partial Art in the Afternoon (AITA) scholarships. To apply, please click "Register" at the bottom left of the page and complete the scholarship application.

You will need the following information:

Need-Based Scholarships

Please provide:

A statement describing your family's financial need, including:
- Total household gross annual income
- Household size
- Monthly income and expenses, including any significant or unforeseen expenses (medical bills, job loss, etc.)
A statement explaining how participation in Art in the Afternoon will benefit your child
One letter of recommendation from a non-family member (teacher, principal, counselor, minister, coach, neighbor, etc.)
Two examples of your child's artwork (jpg or pdf format, if available)

Scholarship Awards

Scholarship applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and awarded based on demonstrated financial need and available funding.

Please note that scholarship funds are limited and submission of an application does not guarantee an award.

Artventure Day: New Year, New Beginnings

Start the new year with a day of creativity, imagination, and artistic exploration at CVA!

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will spend the day creating artwork inspired by themes of new beginnings, goals, growth, and possibilities. Through a variety of mixed media projects, students will reflect on the year ahead while expressing their ideas through art, storytelling, and creative play.

Throughout the day, students will follow a structured schedule that includes:

Welcome activities and creative warm-ups
Guided art projects inspired by hopes, goals, and fresh starts
Snack and movement breaks
Art-making, games, and collaborative activities
Lunch and outdoor recess in downtown Greensboro parks (weather permitting)
Additional art projects and creative exploration in the afternoon

Using a variety of materials and techniques, students will create meaningful artwork while building confidence, making new friends, and celebrating the possibilities of a new year.

Program Details

8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Open to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade
All art supplies included
Please bring a lunch, snack, and water bottle
Outdoor activities are weather permitting

Artventure Day: Black History Month Edition

No school? Spend the day creating, exploring, and learning through art at CVA!

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will enjoy a full day of hands-on art activities inspired by Black History Month. Through age-appropriate discussions, creative projects, and collaborative activities, students will explore the contributions of Black artists, innovators, and cultural leaders while creating artwork using a variety of mixed media materials.

Throughout the day, students will follow a structured schedule that includes:

Welcome activities and creative warm-ups
Guided art projects inspired by Black artists, history, and culture
Snack and movement breaks
Art-making, games, and collaborative activities
Lunch and outdoor recess in downtown Greensboro parks (weather permitting)
Additional art projects and creative exploration in the afternoon

Our goal is to provide a fun, engaging day that encourages creativity, self-expression, and learning through the arts.

Teacher Workday at GCS on April 5? Join us at CVA for an ARTVENTURE DAY!

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will enjoy a full day of creative exploration inspired by spring themes and nature. Using a variety of mixed media materials, students will create unique artwork while participating in age-appropriate games, outdoor activities, and community-building experiences.

Throughout the day, students will follow a structured schedule that includes:

Welcome activities and creative warm-ups
Guided art projects using a variety of mixed media
Snack and movement breaks
Art-making, games, and collaborative activities
Lunch and outdoor recess in downtown Greensboro parks (weather permitting)
Additional art projects and creative play in the afternoon

Our goal is to provide a fun, engaging day that balances creativity, social interaction, movement, and artistic exploration.
