SOULiloquies is an immersive exhibition where visual artists present the stories of people who are everyday legends around us, in our communities, and perhaps beyond. Visitors to our gallery space and online exhibit will be able to see the images, then "tap in" to each visual image via a QR code that will bring them to a poem, speech, track, or story related to each local legend. Want to Visit? The CVA Gallery is open free of charge to the public. Visitors are required to wear a mask (CDC is recommending doubling your mask) and remain socially distanced. Gallery Hours: Thursdays - Saturdays, Curator T. Walker will be hosting COVID-safe in-person events such as featured artist interviews, author discussions, and interactive tours. Image by Tyrissa Swilley | Meet Your Curator, T. WalkerBorn in Wilmington, DE, and raised in Jacksonville, NC, T. Walker is an undeniably talented lyricist, story teller, poet, educator and gallery curator. Growing up in the South, he got his start singing in the choir. While he was in college, he released his first official mixtape, “I Am Technology" (February 2010). You can hear the growth and evolution of his life and artistry over time within his musical releases. T. Walker has continued his work on the road during his most recent “2020 Vision Tour,” where he performed on SoFar Sounds stages and curated shows at art galleries in various cities such as Portland, Seattle, Philadelphia, Nashville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Washington, DC and more. You can hear his musical influences (Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Andre 3000, Z-ro, DMX, Kirk Franklin and 90’s r&b) peeking through his relevant, conscience and melodic flows, with words and metaphors that hit like darts. You get to see another side of T.Walker's creativity through his gallery curation, where he combines poetry, music, and art to create the ultimate sensory experience. |
