ARTCHITECTURE PAINTINGS BY MARY E D RYAN OCTOBER 10 - OCTOBER 20, 2023 "ARTchitecture" is a series of 30 paintings by artist Mary E D Ryan created in 2022, and funded in part by an artist support grant from the North Carolina Arts Council. Mary has been painting for many years and is also a muralist and mural designer. The series was inspired by her mural work and focuses on buildings and architecture around Rockingham and Guilford County, NC. Ordinary and often run down buildings are transformed on canvas into works of art depicting murals from the artist's imagination. The artwork reflects a wide variety of subjects and styles and reflects the diverse nature of the muralist experience - either realized on actual walls or imagined, potential, and yet to be. The goal of the series is to showcase the potential of art on canvas and in public spaces, places, and walls to provide the opportunity to connect with art in a transformative experience.

Exhibition Events Wednesday, October 11, 6pm to 7:30pm - Artist Talk with Mary Ryan Join us in the CVA gallery to hear from the artist about the creation of this series of paintings, Mary will talk from 6-7pm and folks are welcome to mix and mingle following the discussion.
Artist Mary Ryan will be in the CVA gallery doing live painting and talking with visitors about her process.
Join us in the CVA gallery for a closing reception for the ARTchitecture Exhibition. Small bites and drinks will be provided. |
