The Center for Visual Artists are excited to announce our upcoming "The Art of Inclusion: Celebrating Greensboro's Diverse Community", an exhibition highlighting the creativity, resilience, and unique perspectives of artists from historically underrepresented communities in Greensboro.
This exhibition seeks to create a welcoming space where artists can share work that reflects identity, lived experience, culture, and personal storytelling by artists of all ages and media. By bringing together artists from the disability and LGBTQIA+ communities, The Art of Inclusion aims to create dialogue, visibility, and appreciation for the diversity that enriches Greensboro’s community.
The exhibition will open with a free public reception on Friday, June 5 from 6:00–9:00 PM, inviting community members, artists, families, and supporters to gather in celebration of art, inclusion, and connection.
Call for Art
Artists are encouraged to submit original artwork that explores themes including, but not limited to:
Identity and self-expression
Disability pride and lived experience
LGBTQIA+ culture and history
Community, belonging, and resilience
Intersectionality and social inclusion
All visual media are welcome, including:
Painting
Drawing
Photography
Sculpture
Mixed media
Fiber art
Digital art
Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply. Artists must identify as a person with a disability and/or as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Submission Guidelines
3-5 artworks per artist may be submitted
Include artist name, artwork title, medium, size, and price
Include a short artist statement in PDF, Word or Pages format
Digital images should be high-quality JPEG or PNG files
Works must be ready to hang upon delivery (if artist need assistance please reach out)
Important Dates
Submission Dates: Monday March 16 – April 24 2026
Artist Notification: Tuesday May 5
Artwork Drop-off: Saturday May 23, Tuesday May 26, Thursday May 28, Saturday May 30,
Monday May 1
Opening Reception: Friday, June 5, 6:00–9:00 PM (Free and open to the public)
Community Impact
The Art of Inclusion is designed to uplift voices that have historically been overlooked in traditional gallery spaces. By centering artists with disabilities and LGBTQIA+ creators, the exhibition celebrates the vibrant diversity that shapes Greensboro’s cultural identity and encourages meaningful community engagement through the arts.
Artists and community members alike are invited to join in this celebration of creativity, accessibility, and belonging.
