TRASH BASH 2024

The Center for Visual Artists + Reconsidered Goods, will host “Trash Bash," a group sculpture competition using an array of reused materials in the CVA Gallery on August 2, 2024. This is a First Friday FREE event, and visitors are welcome to watch the competition.

Teams of artists and makers will compete to build an installation sculpture working with reused materials from Reconsidered Goods.5 teams will be randomly selected to work on their collaborative site-specific installation under a time constraint (only 75 minutes), while spectators cheer them on. Each team will be assigned to a specific space in the gallery and receive a list of rules and a “trash kit” to work from – a panel of judges will select winners, each team receiving a one-of-a-kind Reconsidered Goods Reuse Trophy.

Trash Bash is a signature program of Reconsidered Goods, offered in partnership with organizations and businesses to promote environmental sustainability and encourage creative expression. The goal is to foster ingenuity, creativity, and invention, reconsidering how we think about discarded materials, art making, and creative potential.

Come hang out with us while these teams create their masterpieces. We will have a mobile make-n-take lab, music and refreshments available.
