Inspired by Black Artists (1st-3rdGrades) Drawing inspiration from the works of Black artists such as Horace Pippin, Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, students will create their own pieces using similar techniques and styles. Campers will explore the stories and imagery in picture books illustrated by Black artists to develop their visual literacy and expand their sense of what’s possible with art and design.

This is one week in a series of related camps where students will have the opportunity to learn about the important contributions to the world these artists made and how their art serves as a way to teach others about cultural diversity.

Please note: This is a 4-day camp.  The Cultural Center building is closed on June 18, 2021, in observance of Juneteenth.
