Art in the Afternoon

Arts-Based After-School Program | Grades K–5 & NEW Middle School Program

We're excited to welcome new and returning students for the 2026–2027 school year! Art in the Afternoon provides a creative, engaging after-school experience filled with art, play, and exploration.

NEW for 2026–2027: Middle School Art Studio

We're thrilled to launch a dedicated middle school section for students in grades 6–8. Designed with older students in mind, this program offers more advanced art projects, creative exploration, and opportunities to develop artistic skills in a supportive studio environment.

Registration

  • Current Art in the Afternoon families may register beginning in April 2026.
  • Registration opens to the general public on June 2, 2026.
  • Enrollment is limited, and spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Waitlists will be available once a program reaches capacity.

Program Details

  • Monday–Friday
  • Generally follows the Guilford County School Traditional Academic Calendar
  • Full-time enrollment only
  • Program hours: School dismissal until 6:00 p.m.
  • Daily snack provided
  • Homework/help time and free-create opportunities available for students arriving by 3:30 p.m.
  • Each day includes:
    • At least one hour of art instruction
    • Outdoor time (weather permitting)
    • Structured recreation and social activities
  • Students are grouped by age.
  • Curriculum includes a variety of artistic media, art history, and creative techniques.

Tuition

  • Annual Tuition: $3,250
  • Payment options:
    • Pay in full
    • 10 monthly payments of $325 through auto-pay
  • $50 non-refundable registration fee due at registration

Payment Deadline

The first tuition payment is due by August 24, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Registrations with unpaid invoices after that deadline will be canceled and offered to students on the waitlist.

Transportation

The Experiential School of Greensboro (TESG)

Transportation is provided by TESG.

Guilford County Schools (GCS)

Transportation may be available through Guilford County Schools. CVA is located on the Lindley Elementary bus route, and many magnet schools provide transportation to the Greensboro Cultural Center. CVA staff meet students at the Davie Street bus stop upon arrival.

Kiser Middle School families who live in the Lindley Park or Sunset Hills areas should contact Kiser directly to explore transportation options. The Greensboro Cultural Center may be an available stop on an existing route.

Please note:

  • CVA does not provide transportation.
  • Families are responsible for arranging transportation through GCS or securing private transportation.
  • GCS may require up to two weeks to add a student to a bus route.

Scholarships

Limited scholarships may be available. Please complete a scholarship application to be considered.
