After-school + GCS holidays

Parents and caregivers need help, and kids will have more fun with us!

Students in grades K-5 love our Art in the Afternoon after-school art-based childcare program, and the same energy abounds at our spring break and teacher in-service day sessions. If you're a working parent (or your child just loves the arts!), we will fill your child's day with creativity and fun.     Looking for a Fun and Creative Birthday Party?

    CVA offers themed birthday parties in our 4th-floor art studios, perfect for your little artist! We provide all the materials and instruction, ensuring that your child and their friends create original artwork to take home as meaningful party favors.

    Our parties include:

    • Price - $300 for up to 8 participants; $25 for each additional guest (maximum of 15).
    • Duration - 2 hours of fun—approximately 1 hour for art-making and 1 hour for food and gifts.
    • Experienced Instructor - all necessary art supplies, a CVA shirt for the guest of honor, and a printable PDF invitation.

    What to Bring - Food, decorations (no helium-filled balloons, please), plates, napkins, utensils, and candles (if using).

    Parking - Conveniently park in the Church St. parking deck adjacent to the Greensboro Cultural Center—it's free on weekends! If there's a paid event at the Tanger Center, we’ll provide a parking pass for your guests.

    Art in the Afternoon

    Arts-Based After-School Program | Grades K–5 & NEW Middle School Program

    We're excited to welcome new and returning students for the 2026–2027 school year! Art in the Afternoon provides a creative, engaging after-school experience filled with art, play, and exploration.

    NEW for 2026–2027: Middle School Art Studio

    We're thrilled to launch a dedicated middle school section for students in grades 6–8. Designed with older students in mind, this program offers more advanced art projects, creative exploration, and opportunities to develop artistic skills in a supportive studio environment.

    Registration

    • Current Art in the Afternoon families may register beginning in April 2026.
    • Registration opens to the general public on June 2, 2026.
    • Enrollment is limited, and spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • Waitlists will be available once a program reaches capacity.

    Program Details

    • Monday–Friday
    • Generally follows the Guilford County School Traditional Academic Calendar
    • Full-time enrollment only
    • Program hours: School dismissal until 6:00 p.m.
    • Daily snack provided
    • Homework/help time and free-create opportunities available for students arriving by 3:30 p.m.
    • Each day includes:
      • At least one hour of art instruction
      • Outdoor time (weather permitting)
      • Structured recreation and social activities
    • Students are grouped by age.
    • Curriculum includes a variety of artistic media, art history, and creative techniques.

    Tuition

    • Annual Tuition: $3,250
    • Payment options:
      • Pay in full
      • 10 monthly payments of $325 through auto-pay
    • $50 non-refundable registration fee due at registration

    Payment Deadline

    The first tuition payment is due by August 24, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Registrations with unpaid invoices after that deadline will be canceled and offered to students on the waitlist.

    Transportation

    The Experiential School of Greensboro (TESG)

    Transportation is provided by TESG.

    Guilford County Schools (GCS)

    Transportation may be available through Guilford County Schools. CVA is located on the Lindley Elementary bus route, and many magnet schools provide transportation to the Greensboro Cultural Center. CVA staff meet students at the Davie Street bus stop upon arrival.

    Kiser Middle School families who live in the Lindley Park or Sunset Hills areas should contact Kiser directly to explore transportation options. The Greensboro Cultural Center may be an available stop on an existing route.

    Please note:

    • CVA does not provide transportation.
    • Families are responsible for arranging transportation through GCS or securing private transportation.
    • GCS may require up to two weeks to add a student to a bus route.

    Scholarships

    Limited scholarships may be available. Please complete a scholarship application to be considered.

    Art in the Afternoon:

    An Arts-Based After-School Program

    We are excited to welcome new and returning friends in kindergarten through 8th grades for the 2026-2027 school year! Here’s what you need to know:

    Program Schedule

    • Program Dates: Monday, August 24 – Thursday, June 10

    • Operating Days & Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM

    • Enrollment: Full-time only; part-time enrollment is not available

    • Teacher Workdays: Available on all Guilford County Schools (GCS) teacher workdays from 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM

      • CVA offers Artventures enrichment on these days at a discounted rate for AITA families

    • Weather Closures: May follow GCS decisions during inclement weather; CVA will evaluate safety and update families as early as possible

    • Holiday Closures: Closed on all GCS calendar holidays

    Registration Details:

    • Current Students: Registration opens in April.
    • General Public: Registration opens on June 2, 2026, for students in kindergarten through 5th grade in the 2026-2027 school year.
    • Limited Space: Once the limit is reached, you can join the waiting list by clicking "Register" and adding your information. We will contact you via email or phone if a space becomes available. Spaces are filled in the order registrations are received.
    • Middle School: We are piloting our Middle School program this year.  Transportation from Kiser may be available, please go to the GCS website to make your request for transportation.  Contact create@mycvagreensboro.org to discuss rates and schedule.

    Tuition:

    • Annual tuition is $3,250, covering the entire school year.
    • Payment options:
      • One lump sum
      • Auto-pay option with 10 equal installments of $325 each

    Daily Activities:

    • A snack is provided each afternoon.
    • Students arriving by 3:30 p.m. can work on homework or have "free create" time.
    • At least 1 hour of art instruction is provided daily, along with outdoor time (weather permitting) and structured playtime.
    • Students are divided by age groups.
    • Curriculum includes various artistic media, art history, and techniques.

    Transportation:

    • Available for TESG students through the school.
    • Available for Guilford County Schools students through the GCS transportation office. We are on the Lindley Elementary bus route, and magnet schools will bus students to the Cultural Center. Our staff will meet students at the bus stop on Davie St.
    • CVA does not offer transportation. Parents must coordinate with the GCS transportation office or arrange private transportation. GCS typically requires at least 2 weeks to add students to a bus route.

    Pick-Up Time:

    • No later than 6 p.m.
    • Late Pickup Policy: Pickups after 6:00 PM will incur a late fee charged to your account

     A $50 non-refundable registration fee is due when you register.  Registrants will be sent an invoice for the first installment payment after your registration is received.  The first installment payment is due no later than August 24, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.  Any invoices not paid by that date and time will be voided, and the registration will be canceled.
